Bereavement Doula Services
Enduring the loss of your baby has its unique emotional challenges. Your grief is real and justified and often affects many people throughout the family. As your Doula, I can help advocate your needs with compassionate support before, during, and after the birth of your baby. Special focus will be provided to you, for the birth of your baby.

Infant mortality, stillbirths, and preterm births are a major public health priority with significant race and ethnic disparities. In our country, sadly, one in four pregnancies ends in loss. The statistics show women of color suffer nearly twice as many pregnancies that end in loss.

A 2021 reviewTrusted Source suggests the overall risk of miscarriage is 15.3% of all recognized pregnancies. The prevalence of one miscarriage is roughly 10.8%, two miscarriages is 1.9%, and three or more is 0.7%.
The review also highlights certain risk factors which can increase the risk of miscarriage.
These include:
-
very young or older age
-
very low or very high body-mass index
-
Black ethnicity
-
previous miscarriages
-
smoking
-
alcohol
-
stress
-
working night shifts
-
air pollution
-
exposure to pesticides

I'll accompany you in your labor to help validate your birth experience, as you prepare for your baby's birth. Assistance will help you create memories and keepsake items for your baby.
I draw on my training acquired from Ms. Nneka Hall, the creator of Q.U.I.L.T. (Quietly United In Loss Together). The Pregnancy and Infant Loss (P.A.I.L) comprehensive course covers practical integrated knowledge to serve perinatal bereaved families.

I invite you to contact me so that we can discuss the support that best honors your personal experience, and address any postpartum needs. There is no charge for this service.
